Replacing tired timber and concrete canopies with our made-to-last GRP models

Over time, certain features on properties can become weather-worn and tired and in need of an upgrade, door canopies included.

This is precisely what happened at 41 flats in the Bath Street area of Grimsby not so long ago. The property management company, Lincolnshire Housing Partnership, were carrying out an external improvement project at the flats and, as part of this, had identified that the canopies needed to be replaced.

The contractor for this particular project, Engie, contacted us to discuss what the best options were. After conducting a site visit, we recommended the old canopies should be replaced with our Royale and Rochester GRP door canopies.

We specified our Royale and Rochester door canopies at Bath Street because they:

• Would effortless blend in
• Really enhanced the surroundings
• Are functional and highly attractive, particularly with the gallows brackets

What’s more, as with all of our door canopies, the Royale and Rochester conform to British Standard, BS399-3 and European Standard, EN1991-1-3:2003 and come with a ten-year guarantee. They’re also made from Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP), meaning they’re maintenance free and built to last, making them the ideal low cost, long-term solution.

We manufactured the 41 canopies to specific dimensions, using the measurements, samples and drawings we’d obtained during our initial site visit. Once everything had been signed off, we were then back on site to take down the old canopies and install our canopies with attractive gallows brackets.

Our team had to overcome the challenge of taking down sets of both timber and concrete canopies that had been installed differently. But thanks to their experience and skill, it was a challenge they easily overcame. They also made sure they planned their time effectively to make sure the entire door canopies element of the improvement project was completed within the four-month timeframe.
