Background
With limited outdoor space, Aspley Guise Village School needed a smart way to make the most of what they had. They wanted to create a large, covered area that could be used both as a play space and a walkway between buildings, helping pupils move around the site more comfortably in all weather.
They also wanted the new structure to match their school colours and stay within a set budget.
The requirement
The school needed a canopy system that would:
- Cover the maximum possible space
- Allow seamless movement between classrooms via covered walkways
- Avoid using posts in key play areas to maintain space
- Stay within a fixed budget set by the school governors
As a returning Canopies UK customer, the school knew they could rely on us to deliver a practical, well-designed solution.

The challenge
The new canopy needed to span four different building walls, each with its own construction type. That meant we had to combine different installation methods – from brackets to corner sections – to get the best result. We also had a short window for installation during the summer break, as everything needed to be completed before the new term began.
The solution
After an in-depth site visit and consultation, we designed a 2.5m Connekt canopy system featuring:
- A combination of vertical brackets, corner sections, and wall-mounted posts
- A wraparound layout that linked four elevations
- A tailored colour match to the school’s branding
This approach meant we could maximise the space, stay within budget and deliver a structure that worked perfectly for the school’s layout.
Results
- A bright, weatherproof outdoor area for play and movement
- Seamless links between buildings, usable in all seasons
- A clean, cohesive look that fits in with the school environment
- Installed on time and ready for the start of term
The installation met all the school’s expectations, and the finished canopy has been a great addition to the site.
